PB-200
The PB-200
was SWR's first product. Introduced in late 1984, it underwent an upgrade
and was available as the Studio 220 until 1998 when it was retired from
the SWR product line. The following changes were made when the PB-200
was upgraded and renamed the Studio 220: Increased power output, Appearance
facelift, Transparency Control, Frequency Shift Control omitted.

SS-180
Introduced in 1986, the SS-180 was the third model introduced in the SWR
product line and features an all-tube preamp section, Variable Limiter,
Footswitchable EQ Section, and a solid state power amplifier that delivers
180 Watts into 2 or 4 Ohms and 120 Watts into 8 Ohms.

An updated version of our first amplifier, the Studio 220 was discontinued
after an eleven year run to make room in the SWR product line for new

SM-400
Introduced in early 1985, the SM-400 was the second model introduced in
the SWR product line. The SM-400, which has been called "Legendary
in the world of bass heads" by Bass Player Magazine, is a rack mountable
amp, featuring a 4-band paragraphic EQ, mono and stereo effects loop,
adjustable limiter, electronic crossover, stereo/bi-amp balance control.

SM-400S
The SM-400 underwent its first upgrade in 1993 and was renamed the SM-400S.
The amplifier's power output was increased to 500 watts (@ 4 Ohms in Bridge/Mono
Mode) and some new features were added (Internal Cooling Fan) including
features that were previously available only as factory modifications
(XLR Pad & Ground Lift, and Transparency Control). Replaced by the SM-500.

BLUE

The Electric Blue was the head-only version of the Baby Blue Studio Reference
Bass System. It came housed in it's own mini road case with a removable,
protective lid and handle. Due to numerous requests, this amplifier was
reintroduced in 1998 with the same specifications and a simplified protective
case as the "Baby Blue Head".

BASIC
350

The Basic 350 was the original name of the Bass 350 when it was first
introduced in 1993. The name was changed due to a copyright conflict with
another amplifier manufacturer. The only difference between the Basic
350 and the Bass 350 is an increase in chassis venting that was implemented
about a year into production and occurred simultaneously to the name change.

BLUE HEAD

The electronic section of our famous Baby Blue Combo (and its current

The Baby Blue Studio Reference Bass System was developed for the discerning
professional bass player in need of a superior small bass rig for studio
applications and smaller venues. The Baby Blue is a self contained system
that delivers 120 Watts into two 8 inch speakers and a 5 inch cone tweeter.
The speaker system in the Baby Blue was patterned along the lines of studio
reference monitors and is quite unique to the musical instrument field.

BLUE II
When the original Baby Blue was upgraded to the Baby Blue II in 1993,
the following changes were made: Increased power output (160 watts) and
power handling, additional chassis venting, cabinet impedance was changed
to 4 ohms (from 8 ohms), Bagend 8" drivers were replaced by Celestion
8" drivers. The chrome grill shown in this picture was added in 2000.
In 2001, the Celestion drivers were changed to Eminence drivers that more
closely resembled the Bagend 8" drivers in the first Baby Blue.

SUPER REDHEAD
This upgraded version of the Redhead increased the power and implemented a few requests from our artists, including: Mute switch for the front XLR panel, front porting for the cabinet and an internal cooling fan. The Super Redhead was replaced in 2008 by the redesigned Redhead, to celebrate 20 consecutive years of production.

Note:
The way to tell the difference between the original Baby Blue Monitor
and the upgraded version is by inspecting the surrounds of the 8"
speakers. If the surrounds are foam (like a hi-fi speaker) then it is
the original 8 ohm version. If it has a regular "accordion/bellows"
type surround then it is the upgraded version.

BIGFOOT
SWR's first 2x12 enclosure, this light weight powerhouse featured singing
mids and earth-shaking lows. The Bigfoot was discontinued in 1997 to make
room in the SWR product line for new speaker designs.

These two cabinets were the first SWR-designed cabinets without a tweeter of any kind since the Big Ben (1X18), in 1990. WORKINGMAN'S 8004 T/O/P
Literally unlike any other Workingman's product, the Workingman's 8004
T/O/P was a 750-watt, fast-and-furious, all-solid-state monster that sounded
different than anything SWR had ever offered before. Designed in conjunction
with legendary bassist Francis "Rocco" Prestia of
Tower Of Power, the Workingman's 8004 T/O/P delivered huge, pillowy walls of bass and
served as the perfect complement to the Workingman's Tower 8x10 bass speaker enclosure.

The Workingman's Series debuted in 1994 with the progressive goal of bringing the SWR sound to more people by offering more affordable, value-driven products. The Workingman's 15 and 12 were the first two combos introduced, and the 15 went on to become one the best-selling products in SWR history. The combos remained popular throughout several changes in appearance and features (see top of page) until they were replaced by the WorkingPro combos in 2006.
